William F. Ryan

A founding partner of the firm. Mr. Ryan practices in the area of civil litigation, including premises liability; construction law; auto and coverage disputes. Mr. Ryan was lead attorney for high Self-Insured Retention clients, including Coca-Coca Bottling, Chase Manhattan Bank and The Brooklyn Navy Yard. Mr. Ryan has been practicing in the insurance defense field for over 26 years with a track record of success in achieving both favorable settlements as well as jury verdicts.

Mr. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law. Upon graduating from Princeton, Mr. Ryan received the B.F. Bunn Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence, an honor bestowed upon two graduating seniors. He was the Captain of the Varsity Basketball Team. He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association; American Bar Association; New York State Bar Association; The Association of the Bar of the City of New York; New York County Lawyer’s Association; CLM- the Claims Litigation Management Alliance; Westchester County Bar Association; American Trial Lawyers Association; Professional Liability Underwriting Society; New York Claim Association; and The Defense Research Institute.

Kieran J. Conlon

A founding partner of the firm, Mr. Conlon’s areas of practice include complex construction and other catastrophic injury litigation from inception through trial, as well as, employment contract disputes, commercial litigation and insurance coverage matters.  Mr. Conlon has also acted as personal counsel to corporations and executives in the construction, finance and service industry.  Mr. Conlon began his legal career at a mid-sized insurance defense firm where he handled cases varying from accounting and nursing malpractice to defending school districts and supermarkets located in New York City, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange and Sullivan Counties.  Mr. Conlon was also responsible for numerous complex construction cases.  Mr. Conlon later joined a small boutique firm in Manhattan where he specialized in catastrophic loss litigation, handling various complex product liability, medical malpractice and labor law matters from inception through trial in New York and nationally.   

Mr. Conlon was born in Dublin, Ireland.  His family immigrated to New York when he was a young boy and he grew up in Queens, New York.  He graduated from Villanova University with a degree in accounting and received his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School.  Mr. Conlon is a former member of the International Brotherhood of Glaziers - Local 1087, and is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Brehon Law Society and the Long Island City Lawyers Club.  He has served on numerous judicial screening panels, including the 2011, 2014 and 2017 Independent Judicial Screening Panel for the New York Supreme Court and Civil Court.  Mr. Conlon has also served on the Executive Board of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center; a community based non-profit organization providing legal and other social services. 

Over the years, Mr. Conlon has been involved in and handled numerous complex catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) cases resulting from construction and motor vehicle accidents and has been involved in complex litigation involving aviation, power line exposure, vehicle and other product liability and premises defect cases.  He has also handled numerous investment and employer disputes, as well as, other commercial litigation.  Cases of interest include the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade accident and Liberty Helicopter crash.

Elizabeth E. Malang

A partner of the firm and an experienced trial attorney, Ms. Malang handles all phases of the firm’s insurance defense cases, including general liability, auto, trucking, premises liability, construction, property damage, and coverage disputes.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Malang served as an Assistant District Attorney for the State of New York in Kings County under District Attorney Charles J. Hynes.   Ms. Malang prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases.  While at the District Attorney’s Office, she successfully prosecuted hundreds of domestic violence cases in one of the country’s most widely recognized specialized domestic violence bureaus. 

Ms. Malang received her Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law in 2000.   She served as the Symposium Editor of Fordham Law School’s prestigious Urban Law Journal from 1999-2000, and was responsible for the coordination and subsequent publication of the Volume 27 Book 5 symposium, “Forgiveness in the Law.”  Ms. Malang served as the Senior Director of Fordham’s Domestic Violence Advocacy Center from 1998-2000.  She served as a founding member of the 1999 New York Walks to End Domestic Violence committee.  Ms. Malang received her Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in all subjects, with a major in Government from Cornell University in 1997.   

Ms. Malang was the recipient of The National Association of Insurance Women Award in 2000 for her academic achievement, contribution to the advancement of women in society, promotion of issues and concerns of women in the legal profession, and earning the respect of the law school community.  She served as President of the Fordham Urban Law Journal Alumni Association from 2007-2011 and currently serves as vice-president; is a member of the Fordham Law School Alumni Association; is a member of CLM- the Claims Litigation Management Alliance; New York Claim Association; and a member of the New York City Association of Insurance Women.  She served on the 2012 Independent Judicial Review Committee for the New York County Democratic Committee and the 2018 Independent Judicial Screening Panel for the 9th Municipal Court District, for the purpose of vetting Civil Court judicial candidates.

Ms. Malang is admitted in New York State Courts, the Southern and Eastern District of New York, and The Supreme Court of the United States.

Joseph R. Thompson

An associate with the firm, Mr. Thompson focuses his practice on general liability and the defense of personal injury claims.  He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from The Ohio State University and was admitted to the New York Bar in 2013.  He is also admitted to the Southern District of New York.  Mr. Thompson served as a Managing Editor for the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law and previously volunteered at New York County Defender Services, a public defense office in Manhattan.

Ryan J. Weber

An associate with the firm, Mr. Weber focuses his practice on general liability and the defense of personal injury claims. He graduated magna cum laude from Ohio University with a BBA in Finance. He received a scholarship to New York Law School where he received his JD with honors and was a member of both the law review and the Center for Professional Values.  Mr. Weber is member of the New York Law Association.  He is also admitted to practice in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York

John A. Corring

Of counsel to the firm and an experienced trial attorney, Mr. Coring handles all phases of insurance defense cases, including general liability, auto, premises liability, construction, property damage, and ADA matters.  Mr. Corring has over 27 years of experience and has tried over 100 cases to verdict in New York State and Federal Courts with a track record of success.  

Mr. Corring received his B.A. from Rutgers College and his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School in 1996.    He is admitted in New York State and U.S.D.C Southern and Eastern Districts.
